Who are we?

We are a small group of engineers and designers building the next generation of software tools for energy and carbon intelligence in the built environment. Our mission is to provide quality analytics that give building owners the knowledge and confidence to successfully reduce energy use and operational carbon emissions. Although we’re an early-stage company, our team brings decades of experience working on decarbonization in the building sector.

What is the role?

Our software platform brings our collective experience in architecture, building science, and product design to commercial real estate - giving building owners the energy analytics and portfolio insights they need to act. The data behind those insights is rich and complex; your job is to make it clear, trustworthy, and actionable. Working directly alongside the head of product and our engineering team, you will lead the design of the platform end to end, from research and user flows to polished interfaces and a growing design system. You will be an integral part of our team as we grow, with a real voice in the major decisions that shape the product.

Who are you?

We’re looking for a product designer who loves making complicated information easy to understand and who is willing to wear many hats as we gain our footing in the market. You should be excited about the company’s mission and curious to learn about how buildings use energy, assuming you aren’t already an expert yourself. Experience as an early or founding designer at a startup is a huge bonus. Apart from that, here are a few additional requirements:

  • 3+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that shows how you work through ambiguous problems - not just the final screens.
  • Strength in data visualization and information design. You should be comfortable designing dashboards, charts, maps, and reports that help users understand performance across a single building or an entire portfolio.
  • End-to-end ownership of the design process, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI in Figma. Experience building or maintaining a design system is a plus.
  • A collaborative working style. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and customers, and you should be comfortable presenting your work, taking feedback, and making pragmatic tradeoffs. A background or interest in architecture, building science, or sustainability is a nice-to-have.
  • A healthy skepticism of AI-driven design.

What can you expect?

  • Competitive compensation package, with equity, based on experience.
  • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Flexible / hybrid work schedule. We’re open to fully remote work, but we’d like to have someone local (New York metro area) as we get our company off the ground for occasional in-person meetings. Our offices are in downtown Manhattan.
  • Generous paid time off. Although we’re a startup, we value work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to shape the direction of a fledgling company and make a positive impact on the environment.
